Pick the Perfect Christmas Tree for Your Home!

Mother and Daughters by Christmas Tree

Need some tips on picking the right Christmas tree? You’ve come to the right place!

It’s the time of the year when families go out to the tree farm to choose a great-looking Christmas tree to display in their homes! Christmas trees have been around for a long time and they are a great tradition for spreading holiday cheer. Do you know what to look for when choosing the perfect Christmas tree? Here are some tips for when you’re out looking with your family.

Which Species Should You Choose?

Evergreen trees are the usual choice for Christmas trees, but not every species is the same, so you may want to look at the differences to pick a good tree for your home. If you have children or pets, for example, you may want to look at pine and fir trees which have soft needles as compared to the sharper needles of a spruce tree. Your choices could also vary depending on the region you live in.

Christmas Tree Checklist

There are a few things you should check out as you’re examining a potential Christmas tree. Before venturing out, make sure you measure the height of your ceiling so you have an idea of what height to look for. Account for any tree toppers you may put up! Out in the field, check the freshness of the tree by bending a needle in half with your fingers. A fresh fir’s needle will snap, while a fresh pine’s needle should bend and not break. To ensure your tree will last the entire holiday season, gently pull the inside of a branch towards you. The needles should stay on the Christmas tree – if they fall off, look for a different one. Also, check the color of the tree and make sure it is evenly colored throughout.
