Get Your Trees Ready for Spring

Help your trees bounce back from a long, cold winter!

Now that daylight savings time has ended, it’s time to spring back into landscape care. Your trees are a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to making your home’s surroundings look their best. A long, cold winter has taken its toll on your trees. Here are some ways to make sure they bloom back into the beauty you expect them to have.

Water Them Properly

As we’ve mentioned before, trees need plenty of water. Watering your trees, or any other part of your landscape seems pointless in the winter. But with winter ending, you’ve got to make sure that your plants aren’t too dried out. If you don’t already own an irrigation system, you might want to invest in one.

Perform an Inspection

Next, make sure you give your tree a physical. What does it look like, and how is it doing, healthwise? When completing this step of the process, it’s not a terrible idea to invite a tree care expert to help you diagnose any potential issues that could become more problematic without the proper attention.

Get the Mulch

It’s also time to start thinking about what mulch you will use. The leaves that fell around your tree still provide some nutrients to help feed your tree during its season-long nap. Believe it or not, mulching can actually benefit your trees just as much as it can for your lawns and landscapes.

Examine the Soil

Lastly, don’t forget to examine the soil around the base of your trees, too. Even though your trees need enough nitrogen to thrive, you don’t want to give them too much. After all, you know what they say about too much of a good thing. Excessive nitrogen can damage the vital root system of your tree. Be sure to have your soil analyzed so you don’t overdo it.
